Dhoni, Yuvraj, and Nehra! I am talking about three supremely talented match winners of Indian cricket team. All of them have the capability to win a match of their own on their day. Truly champion cricketers they are and they bring in so much of experience with them to the squad. In the second T20 against England, we have seen how effective Nehra was with the ball and how instrumental he was in that win. Then come Dhoni and Yuvraj who just finished ODI series against England on high. They demonstrated kind of demolitions they can do in second ODI against England wherein they both scored big centuries and made India score 381after fall of three early wickets.

Dhoni and Yuvraj look like they are in the scheme of things for both ODI’s and T20I’s and Ashish Nehra has been persisted only with shortest format T20I. It’s really pleasing to see importance given by MSK’s led selection panel and new Team India captain Virat Kohli on performance. Kudos to this Selection panel and captain. Without any doubt, I think ODI team has the best combination ever for team India. Dhoni and Yuvraj bring in exactly kind of experience, skills, and balance which is required in any good team. The question is about T20’s, should they all be played in together in this format? In my view playing in all three together is most important question.

The biggest area where it impacts most is teams Agility. Dhoni still looks best behind the stumps but Yuvraj and Nehra look very rusty in the field. Especially in this shorter format wherein, every run is important, the inclusion of these two in same team impacts team fielding a lot. Batting and bowling performance should not be an issue as all three are champion performers and surely they will be above par in comparison to others. But teams Agility is something which should not be overlooked. One way to address this especially in T20 format is to play either of Yuvraj or Nehra in a given match and bring a youngster someone like Rishabh Pant for batting and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for bowling. This will take care of teams Agility factor and will also open up a slot for a youngster, best bet would be Rishabh Pant. Rishabh being a wicket keeper batsman will also give chance to rotate him with Dhoni and field Nehra and Yuvraj together looking at kind of batting form Dhoni or Yuvraj are in.

To conclude all three are still our champion cricketers and it’s treat to see them play and perform. They have proven themselves over the years and now it’s time to gradually build next gen under their supervision.
