Team India for remaining two test matches against Australia has been announced by BCCI on Thursday, March 9th and Hardik Pandya has been the only player who has been left out due to injury. Although it was expected that team composition will remain the same especially after a hard-fought victory in the last match against Australia. But since Murli Vijay had to miss the last test match because of shoulder injury chances of him being dropped was there and Rohit Sharma was expecting a test recall after returning from a long break due to injury. However, he has been sidelined for remaining two test matches against Australia.
After having a decent series against New Zealand where in Rohit Sharma scored three half centuries and couple of them were match winning knocks it looked liked finally he will cement his place in the test side. But in last one day international against New Zeland he suffered a hamstring injury which needed a surgery and rehabilitation period of four months. This injury kept him away from all forms of cricket. He missed the whole series against England, only test match against Bangladesh and now will have to wait and watch series against Australia even though he was available for selection.
As per new protocol that has been set with the introduction of the new coach of team India Anil Kumble any player who is returning from injury will have to prove his fitness and mantle first in the domestic circuit and then only he can expect a comeback. Must say a great move and logical one too and that’s why Anil Kumble stands out as a great thinker, planner, and executioner. Following the protocol, Rohit Sharma after recovering from his injury went into rehab in National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and prepared himself for Vijay Hazare trophy to stage a comeback.
In Vijay Hazare trophy he played against Andhra and got out cheaply at the score of 16. In next game against Goa, he went on to open the innings but got bowled out just for 4 runs. Although he has proved his fitness by playing these two Vijay Hazare trophy but certainly he did not play a knock which could justify his return to the National side. Especially when the team is packed with talented players and there is hardly any space to accommodate a player who has not yet made his place stable in test squad even after being in this format for almost three years now.
For Rohit Sharma and his fans to see him back in white colors wait is little longer. Until August 2017 India will not be playing any test matches, and till then probably he will have enough time to regain his form and fitness by proving his mantel in shorter formats of the game. Next big event coming up is IPL and this is one tournament in which he has excelled right from the start of this tournament and has been part of IPL winning teams for three times. This tournament will be enough to stage his comeback and he will definitely find his place back in Champions Trophy One Day International tournament which is scheduled to start from 1st of June. Looking forward to stylish Mumbaikar return to International cricket as he is an immensely talented batsman who makes batting look very simple on his day and it is a treat to watch him bat. Wishing for his quick recovery and come back, all the best Rohit.
