The stage is set for another epic battle between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in Indian Wells BNP Paribas Open 2017. They will be contesting against each other in pre-quarter finals of this tournament and would be fighting it hard to make their position in quarterfinals.  Currently, Roger is ranked 10th and Nadal is ranked 6th and their head to head record is 12 – 23. Recently in Australian open 2017 entire world observed an epic encounter between Roger and Rafa wherein Roger Federer was able to surpass Rafael Nadal in five setters.

Both Rafa and Roger enjoy playing against each other certainly stake are not that much high as it was it Australian Open 2017 finals but still BNP Paribas Open is a prestigious Master 1000 points tournament and none of them will take it easy.

In the recently concluded round of 32 matches, Roger Federer defeated Steve Johnson of United States of America in straight sets with match score 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4). Both sets went into a tiebreaker and both of them played really good and were able to hold on their serves but Roger was able to better Johnson in both the occasions in the tiebreaker.

Roger during entire match looked in great form and was calm and composed during crunch situations of the game, he also showed a glimpse of his SABR (Sneak Attack by Roger) skills in this match. On the other hand, Johnson was playing equally well but looked bit unsatisfied with umpiring on some close calls. Throughout the second set, he has been seen arguing with the chair umpire.

Earlier in this tournament, Rafael Nadal defeated another fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco to reach the last 16 of BNP Paribas Open 2017. Nadal currently seeded fifth in this tournament has won this match in straight sets with a match score of 6-3, 7-5.

As reported by ATP World Tour Nadal said:

“I played a good match, no? Very aggressive with my serve, serving well, hitting good forehands, good backhands… Very happy. I think I played much better today than the first day,” Nadal said. “So very pleased with my performance.”

On Roger Federer, he added

“He has the talent to do very difficult things that look easy. He’s able to take the ball very early. Serve and first shot, he creates a lot of winners with that, the two first shots,” Nadal said of Federer.
