It has been 10 years since IPL has started and RCB is yet to win an IPL Trophy. It is not that RCB is the only team who has not won the Trophy but the kind of players RCB has, it becomes difficult to admit that they have not crossed the line even once. They have featured 3 times in the IPL final and all the 3 times they have choked in the final as well. Something similar happened in the 2016 IPL final. Who could believe that star-studded lineup that RCB possess they will not be able to chase 209 and with the chase master in their lineup that target was chase-able in their home ground.

With the start of the 10th season of IPL and both the finalist team playing the 1st match of IPL 2017, RCB Was expected to come strong. Yes, they did not have Kohli, Abd, and Rahul in their lineup but they still had the explosive Gayle and Watson along with the newly bought Tymal Mills.

After the fine opening ceremony, SRH came out to bat first after losing the toss and were off to a fine start. Shikhar Dhawan and Warner started well but soon Warner fell off to a rough Overconfident Shot against Aniket Choudhary. Henriques was promoted and he batted with responsibility along with Dhawan and took the team to a good total in the first 10 overs. After that, someone needed to up the ante and in the course of play Dhawan got out to Chahal, the debutant star. Yuvraj then played some beautiful shots to bring up his 50 in just 23 ball which was his fastest in IPL history. He got out to brilliant delivery from Mills. SRH posted 207 on board something similar to what they had posted last year in the Finals.

RCB had the batting lineup to chase the target and Gayle and Mandeep Singh gave a good start to the team. Soon Mandeep Singh fell to a brilliant delivery from Rashid Khan who was playing his 1st match in IPL and also became the 1st player from Afghanistan to feature in IPL. After the departure of Mandeep Singh, Gayle took the charge but Deepak Hooda took his wicket to push RCB on the backfoot. Jadhav played some fine shots but he was run out by a brilliant throw from Ben Cuttings. After that wicket RCB could not come back into the match as they kept losing wickets in regular interval and they lost the match by a considerable margin.

RCB definitely missed the services of Kohli as a captain. When Kohli is the captain RCB looks a totally different team. They will need to play some more matches without Kohli. Also, I suppose that they are over-dependent on their foreign players and the Indian Players need to the come up if RCB wants to change their fate this time.
