IPL10 started with a Bang for IPL9 winners Sunrisers Hyderabad, in the inaugural match of IPL10, they defeated last time runner-up Royal Challengers Bangalore by a healthy margin of 35 runs. Everyone from SRH chipped in with fine performances from bat but the pick of all of them was Yuvraj Singh. He won the man of the match for his match-winning innings in which he scored 62 runs in just 27 balls with the help of four fours and 3 sixes.

Yuvraj Singh came into bat when SRH was cruising on with 93 runs in 10.3 overs largely because of Shikhar Dhawan and Henriques innings. Shikhar was batting very well and he got out after scoring brilliant 52 in just 37 balls. SRH had momentum on their side and new batsman to the crease never let it go down rather he accelerated it with a blistering knock.

What was so eye pleasing was Yuvraj Singh positive frame of mind and his vintage touch for which he is known all throughout these years. Of late he has shown glimpses of his class but never looked so much convincing as he looked today. He scored his first boundary with his favorite pickup short on the fifth ball of his innings, a class wrist work was on display. Next boundary was on the first ball of the 12th over where he was bit lucky and his Chinese cut went for a four. Next ball of 12th over he played his trademark stroke by just driving through the line over long-off for Six which proved that he was in sublime touch today. The third ball of 12th over Yuvraj nailed a pull over midwicket for yet another boundary. The last ball of the 12th over Yuvraj Singh got dropped by Aravind who made a mess of a regulation chest-high catch. It was a very costly miss for RCB even Virat Kohli being interviewed by Sanjay Majeraker on sidelines acknowledged it.

“You cannot drop someone like Yuvraj especially in T20 cricket he is very dangerous” Kohli Said.

Apart from this one drop catch, Yuvraj Singh was in his absolute best he looked as good as he was in his prime days. He innings was a treat to the eyes and his fans went mad seeing him bat like this. When Yuvi bats he makes batting and hitting looks so easy. When he is in his prime any score looks achievable and any score looks chaseable. He scored his fastest fifty of IPL in just 23 balls with 6 boundaries and 2 Sixes. He was killing their opponents with his dangerous and effortless hitting, he was on absolute fire today before getting bowled on a good length delivery. But what an innings it was surely one of his best after quite a long time. In post match presentation Yuvi said:

“Every IPL you have to bring something new (haircut). Confidence. When you make a comeback and play well, you gain confidence. You don’t have to worry that you have to make a comeback. I’m batting more hours, working on the short ball, the slower ball, hitting in the V. Was a bit lucky today, but have been playing the short ball really well.”
